Loss of earnings & personal injury

We have been instructed by solicitors acting for a barman whose injury while playing football prevented him from continuing to work in his chosen profession. Happily he was filmed back at work by a professional investigator working for the defenders, so the claim was not pursued. We have also reported on the loss of earnings of an artist injured in a road traffic accident. This case settled in March 2009. We calculated compensation due on termination of an agency agreement.

Theft & embezzlement, including identity theft

We have given evidence in court on behalf of another barman (evidently a litiginous profession) accused of dipping the till and contributing to his employer's fall in profits. Our work has covered alleged identity theft using stolen credit card details and its concealment in the accounts of a motor dealer, and the diversion of tax credits by a call centre operator to his own bank accounts. We gave evidence in the "Maisie the Cat Publisher" alleged embezzlement case. In 2009 we reported on a case of alleged embezzlement from a charity, from a post office, and on two cases of alleged embezzlement by accountants (of all people).

Fraud, including social security, insurance, credit card, "long firm" and VAT

We have reported on several overstated or fictitious benefit and tax credit claims, and have appeared in court on behalf of the defender in a case of long firm fraud. One case involved an insurance fraud in which no underwriter existed. We assisted with the plea in mitigation and in the confiscation proceedings that followed. In 2008 we reported on the calculation of alleged benefit following a high profile conviction for money laundering. In 2009 we have reported in cases of tax credits fraud, and alleged income support fraud.

Partnership disputes

We have prepared a report on the capital accounts of partners in a post office.

Business & share valuations

We have valued a commercial agency business and a private limited company.
